Thanks Mob
hey, i think i just Got it.
Reigen not really understanding what Mob is going thru (him not being a psychic) is the perfect parent/teen child analogy. Like, he kinda pretends to get it, but he doesn’t really know – until the end. and he says, “I didn’t know! Is that what you’ve been going through? something this big?” That line just cuts me to my core and it’s because… isn’t that what we all wanted to hear from our parents when we were 14 and at the mercy of our uncontrollable emotions? to be seen, to be validated in that way? wow
the clickbait title: Amazing! This manga has the power to heal your childhood trauma!
And it’s not just the validating, it’s the fact that Reigen finally quits it with the bullshit advice, and admits that he doesn’t know what Mob is going through. Reigen shows his own humanity, by saying he doesn’t know something, by telling Mob the truth, by crying in front of him… It’s that moment your parent becomes a real person to you. It’s so much more sincere than Reigen’s typical “when I was your age” advice, which of course is doubly insincere because he’s not a psychic, and insincere in general because adults so quickly forget what it’s like to be children.
this is sort of incoherent but. yeah. wowza.
The thing that gets me is like mob still…. really appreciates the advice reigen gives him. He takes everything reigen says to heart and reigen rlly helps build mob’s moral outlooks.
I feel like mob respects reigen even more so when he finally admits that he doesn’t know what the hell mob is going thru…. like u said it’s more sincere when he breaks down like that because he leaves the mentor role and becomes a real person
I REALLY wish mob was in the spin off so we can see how much their dynamic has changed at all

Just thinking about people making year-end summaries of their accomplishments and also about reasons to keep yourself alive through the next year. Sorry, it’s a bit of a sappy comic.
